Privacy policy

Translated from the original Traditional Chinese version.

Welcome to VerveCode (“this site”). This site is a collection of technical articles maintained by Ted Liou, mainly covering Unity, AI, game development and workflows.

This page explains how this site may handle data when you read articles, leave comments, subscribe to the newsletter, use the external search or see ads. The main analytics and advertising services on this site are Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Google AdSense.

This policy covers the whole site. English pages currently have no ads or newsletter form, so the sections below about those features apply to the Traditional Chinese pages.

If this translation and the Traditional Chinese version differ, the Traditional Chinese version prevails.

Scope

This policy applies to the content of this site under the vervecode.dev domain. Articles may link to external websites, documents, social platforms or tools. After you leave this site, the privacy policy of that external website governs how it handles your data.

What data this site handles

When you browse this site, the web host, CDN, security services, analytics tools and ad services may process necessary technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, time of visit, referring page, pages viewed, interaction records, and cookies or similar identifiers. This data is mainly used to keep the site running, analyze how content performs, improve the site experience and serve ads.

If you actively use certain features, you may provide additional data:

  • When you comment through Giscus, your comment and data related to your GitHub account are processed by Giscus and GitHub.
  • When you use the newsletter form, the email address you enter is sent to follow.it.
  • When you use the search box on this site, your search text is passed to Felo.ai, which opens an external search.
  • When you contact me by email, I see the message and contact details you choose to provide.

Google Analytics

This site loads and uses Google Analytics. Google Analytics shows where visitors come from, which pages they view, how they interact with them, which devices and browsers they use, and how articles perform overall.

This site uses these statistics to judge which content helps readers, which pages need improvement, and whether the site has unusual traffic or experience problems. Google Analytics may process your browsing information through cookies or similar technologies. Google’s privacy and service terms govern how that data is handled.

Microsoft Clarity

This site uses the heatmaps and session recordings of Microsoft Clarity to see how readers scroll, click and otherwise interact with pages, so that articles and site features can be made easier to use. Clarity may process browsing and device data through cookies and similar technologies, and hides sensitive content according to the project’s masking settings. This site does not send Clarity any custom data that identifies you.

For how the data is handled and your privacy options, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement and the Clarity data collection documentation.

Google AdSense

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google AdSense may use Google’s ad systems, cookies, device information, browsing activity or ad interaction records to serve ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud and keep ads secure.

Google’s advertising and privacy policies govern ad content, ad identifiers, personalized ad settings and related data handling. You can manage some cookies and personalized ad preferences through your browser settings or the ad settings tools Google provides.

Other third-party services

Besides Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Google AdSense, this site also uses some functional or infrastructure services. They are not the main tools this site uses to track reader behavior, but they may still process data under their own policies while providing features or keeping the site running.

  • Cloudflare: provides site hosting, CDN, security protection, performance optimization and related infrastructure services. Google Analytics on this site may be loaded through Cloudflare.
  • Giscus and GitHub: provide the article comments. When you use comments, data is handled according to your GitHub account and how Giscus works.
  • follow.it: provides the newsletter form and delivery. Data goes to follow.it only when you actively submit your email address.
  • Felo.ai: provides the external search. This site passes your search text to Felo.ai only when you use the search box and submit a query.

The main analytics and advertising services on this site currently include Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Google AdSense. If other tracking, analytics or ad services are added in the future, this site will update this page.

Cookies and browser settings

This site and third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies to keep services running, measure site traffic, measure ad performance or provide ad features.

If you do not want to accept cookies, you can block or delete them in your browser, or use the privacy settings provided by your browser, operating system or third-party services to manage tracking and ad preferences. However, after you disable cookies, some comment, subscription, ad or external service features may not work properly.

Sharing personal data

This site does not actively sell, rent or exchange your personal data, unless required by law, needed to protect the rights of this site and other users, or necessary to provide the third-party services described above.

When you use comments, the newsletter, search, ads or external links, your data may be handled by the corresponding third-party service. How those services store, use or delete data depends on their own policies and settings.

Data security and retention

This site maintains the security of the site and its content in reasonable ways, but neither network transmission nor third-party services can be guaranteed to be completely free of risk. You should not submit sensitive data in comments, searches or other public interactions.

Emails are kept for as long as the conversation needs them. Newsletter subscriptions and comment data are handled by follow.it, Giscus, GitHub and the other services involved.

Your rights and how to contact me

If you have questions about this privacy policy, or want to ask about, update or remove data you have provided to this site, you can contact me by email:

If the data is held by Google, GitHub, follow.it, Felo.ai or another third-party service, you may need to make the request through that service’s account settings, privacy settings or support channels.
